Completing the Shipper’s Letter of Instruction (SLI) form online is a straightforward process designed to streamline US export operations. In this article, we will guide you through how to access, fill out, and upload your pre-filled SLI form in the UPS® Forwarding Hub (UFH).
How to Access Your Pre-filled SLI in UFH
There are two ways to access your pre-filled SLI form, immediately after submitting your shipment booking request or via the activity feed area on your UFH dashboard.
From Your Booking Confirmation Screen
Once you submit your shipment booking request, you will get directed to a booking confirmation for your request.

Locate the section called 'Your Next Steps'.
Under 'Your Next Steps' click 'Manage Documents' to begin reviewing and completing your shipment forms.
From Your Dashboard Activity Feed
Not ready to upload your shipping documents at the time of booking your shipment? No problem, you can do it later. When you're ready use the steps below to navigate to your shipment and finish your documents.
Click 'Dashboard' on the left navigation panel
Now you're viewing your UFH dashboard page.
Select the 'Activity Feed' tab
'Locate the shipment' you want to provide documents for and click 'Manage Documents' to begin reviewing and completing your shipment forms.
How to Review/Complete an SLI in UFH
You’ve accessed the shipment documents area to finalize your paperwork. The documents listed here are the minimum required to begin moving your cargo. Depending on the origin or destination, additional documents may be needed—our team will contact you to assist with any extras.
The most important document is the SLI form, which allows a forwarder to act on your behalf for U.S. exports. Accuracy is vital, as errors can lead to delays. To simplify this step, UFH provides a pre-filled SLI form based on the details you submitted during booking.
Follow the steps below to complete and upload your SLI form efficiently.

Click 'Complete Online' to access the pre-filled SLI form. If you prefer to complete the form manually just click the 'Download PDF Template'
Listed here are the required fields for the SLI form. 'Review/Update' the fields and agree to 'Terms and Conditions'
Click 'Continue to Optional Info'
Continue to fill in any known optional information. Keep in mind the more information you provide, the more informed are our UPS representatives handling your shipment.
Next, agree to 'Terms and Conditions'
NOTE: If you don't quite understand what you need to put in the field, please click the information icon for more guidance and examples.
Click 'Continue to Optional Info'
Once all required and any optional fields are completed, and you have agreed to the Terms and Conditions
Select 'Preview PDF' to download and review your form for accuracy
Once you are done reviewing click 'Sign & Upload Document'
Click 'Go to DocuSign' to sign the form
You will be redirected to DocuSign so you can 'Complete the Signature Process'
Click 'Start' to begin signing the form
Click 'Finish' when your done signing
Once the form is signed it is automatically uploaded into UFH.
If you manually downloaded the form and wet signed, please follow the 'How to Upload an SLI in UFH' in the next section.
IMPORTANT: Make sure a printed copy of the SLI and any additional documentation is available for the driver at the time of pick-up. Your driver will need to sign at the time of pickup to confirm receipt of the cargo.
How to Upload an SLI in UFH
Follow these steps once your form completed or chose to download/wet sign the SLI form versus completing the document online in UFH using DocuSign.
Return to your shipments document management area. If you are not sure how to access the form take a look at the first section in this article 'How to access your pre-filled SLI form' to navigate your way back to the document area.

Select 'Upload' in the documents management area for your shipment in UFH
'Drag & Drop' your saved SLI file here or 'click upload' to navigate to the form on your computer
Confirm that the file successfully uploaded
You are finished!
IMPORTANT: Make sure a printed copy of the SLI and any additional documentation is available for the driver at the time of pick-up. Your driver will need to sign at the time of pickup to confirm receipt of the cargo.
