How to Identify a Freight Tracking Number

For air or ocean freight cargo, you’ll need a shipment number to get the most up-to-date status on your freight. The UPS Forwarding Hub (UFH) online shipping tool is available to help you locate and track your freight shipment throughout its journey. Let's make sure you know how to identify a freight tracking number and take a glimpse at key pointers to help you easily track your shipment.

Here are a few tips for freight tracking in UFH: 

• Freight tracking numbers are typically alphanumeric and are 7-20 characters long.

• Most tracking numbers on the UPS Forwarding Hub are 10-digit alphanumeric characters
  

• The character "T" at the end of a tracking number indicates shipment through a temporary freight account. For a more streamlined experience, we recommend you requesta free account with UPS, which allows for more efficient shipment management.  

• Freight tracking numbers are the same as the shipment number assigned to your booked freight.
  

For Smaller Packages or Parcel Shipments 

(typically less than 150lbs)

It's important to know that small individual packages are not normally booked, shipped or tracked through the UPS Forwarding Hub.  If your shipment number begins with "1Z", it is not a freight shipment.  To track your package, visit UPS.com tracking.

Find a Tracking Number via UFH Tracking

Tracking your shipments is crucial for smooth logistics, and there are multiple ways to find the necessary information. 

To locate your shipment/tracking number, you will need to log in to your UFH profile.

Once you are logged in, click 'Track' in the left navigation panel

Select one of the following:  

• 'Active Shipments' | Booked shipments currently being transported
• 'Online Booking Requests' | Pending booking requests
• 'Past shipments' | Freight completed and delivered to the final destination
  

Locate the 'UPS Shipment #' to the far left

Find a Tracking Number via UFH Dashboard

Once you are logged in, click 'Dashboard' in the left navigation panel

Select 'Activity Feed'

Locate the 'UPS Shipment #' you are looking for
