Configure a Blind Shipment in UPS Forwarding Hub

Modified on Fri, 2 Oct at 9:26 AM

Overview

A Blind Shipment helps protect confidential business relationships by limiting the shipper or consignee information visible to the other party.

You can select:

  • Blind Pickup to hide the shipper’s information from the consignee.
  • Blind Delivery to hide the consignee’s information from the shipper.
  • Both options to create a Double-Blind Shipment and restrict visibility between both parties.

Blind Shipment privacy controls apply to applicable documents, notifications, and other restricted-party outputs. However, required information may still appear where necessary for customs, regulatory, compliance, or operational purposes.

When to Use Blind Shipping

Use a Blind Shipment when:

  • You want to limit the shipper and consignee information visible to the other party.
  • You are working with third-party vendors, suppliers, distributors, or intermediaries.
  • You need to help protect confidential supply-chain or business relationships.
  • You want to restrict applicable party or charge information in communications and shipment documents.

Before You Begin

Make sure you have:

  • Access to UPS Forwarding Hub to start the shipment booking.
  • The shipment information needed to complete your booking.

Make sure you understand:

  • Blind Shipment is supported for eligible Air Freight and Ocean Freight bookings.
  • Blind Shipment is not supported for Ground Freight.
  • Availability may vary based on the shipment’s origin, destination, trade lane, country, service center, and applicable system configuration or regulatory requirements.
  • Blind Shipment options must be selected during booking and cannot be added after the booking is submitted.
  • Special handling fees may apply for Blind Pickup, Blind Delivery, or both. Applicable charges are displayed during booking.
  • Standard customs-documentation requirements continue to apply.
  • Selecting Blind Shipment does not guarantee that every party detail will be removed from every document or communication.
  • Blind Shipment options cannot be added after the booking is submitted.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Blind Pickup and Blind Delivery?

Blind Pickup restricts applicable shipper information from the consignee. Blind Delivery restricts applicable consignee information from the shipper. Selecting both creates a Double-Blind Shipment, which restricts applicable information between both parties.

Why don’t I see the Blind Pickup or Blind Delivery option?

Blind Shipment is available for eligible Air Freight and Ocean Freight bookings and is not supported for Ground Freight. Availability may also vary based on the shipment’s origin, destination, trade lane, country, service center, system configuration, or regulatory requirements.

If Blind Shipment is required and the applicable option is unavailable, do not submit the booking. Contact Support with your shipment and booking details for assistance.

Can I add Blind Shipment after I submit my booking?

No. Blind Pickup and Blind Delivery must be selected during booking and cannot be added after the booking is submitted.

Why is some information still visible after I select Blind Shipment?

Blind Shipment does not guarantee that every party detail will be removed from every document or communication. Required information may remain visible for customs, regulatory, compliance, payer, or operational purposes.

If information appears inconsistent with your selected Blind Shipment setting, identify where the information appears and which party received or viewed it, then contact Support.

Are there additional fees for a Blind Shipment?

Special handling fees may apply when Blind Pickup, Blind Delivery, or both are selected. Applicable charges are displayed during booking, so review the booking summary before submitting your shipment.
